Blythe Crime Updates.

Dear Resident,

Here are Crimes recorded on Blythe between Thursday 3rd July – Friday 11th July 2025.

Burglaries,

A distraction Burglary was reported in Badger Close, Cheswick Green on the 4/07/25 between 11.30am – 12.30pm. Two unknown offenders knocked on the resident’s door and said ‘’We have come to do your garden’’. The resident was expecting gardeners to do the work that day. Some work was done. One offender entered the property where cash was on the table, the other offender was outside the property. The offenders were asked to leave the property, when it was realised that these were not the gardeners that were expected. But on leaving the property the Offender inside the property took the cash without being been seen and they made off in a white ford drop sided van. No registration was taken.

Theft of motor vehicle.

Ongoing patrols are continuing. Thank you to the residents who are helping Police with their investigations. If you see a vehicle in your area that you don’t recognise, please contact Police on 101 or use the West Midlands Police web site to make enquiries. The location of new vehicle deposition sites are of interest to us.

Please make sure your vehicles are locked. Other parts of Solihull are being hit with theft from unlocked vehicles.

Please fit a steering lock as an extra layer of security to protect your keyless entry vehicle. Relay scanning devices are being used.

Please set your alarm if fitted. Leave lights on or use light timers. Never leave your house in darkness. 

 

Please use anti-tamper screws available from most vehicle spares shops to secure your number plates securely to your vehicle.

  • If you are considering installing or upgrading your CCTV, ensure that any system allows you to achieve the following:
  • Any images should be recorded onto a secure system and be held for a minimum of 31 days.

  • Ensure that all shrubs and hedges do NOT encroach the maximum height of 1m and Tree canopies are lifted to 1.8m. This allows for maximum natural surveillance.

  • Ensure that all fences are the same height as smaller fencing abutting higher fencing acts as a potential climbing aid for offenders.

  • Ensure that all garden furniture is stored away in a garden shed along with any tools to avoid aiding offenders in committing burglary.

  • Ensure that Wheelie Bins are not stored near to fences and are chained together to prevent them from being used as climbing aids or storing objects in that may aid an offender to commit a crime.
